Week 1, Season 3,2017 of the iRacing IMSA series came from Suzuka with a full field made up of the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 which turned it into a GTE battle in the split.

Qualifying was a disaster as I was not able to complete a lap without incident which basically put me at the rear of the field and with a full field of cars evenly matched passing was going to be difficult.

As I suspected passing was going to be difficult and it was very hard to make up positions even though I felt I was quite a bit quicker than some of the other drivers but I wasn't fast enough in the places that made it count.  Overall I made too many mistakes and getting involved in too many battles lead to me by DQ for too many incidents.  Not a great start to the IMSA series.  Bring Watkins Glen next week which will hopefully be a lot better.

The last round of the iRacing IMSA Sports Cars series came from Road Atlanta Road Atlanta is a 2.54-mile (4.088 km) road course.  The track has 12 turns, including the famous "esses" between turns three and five; and Turn 12, a downhill, diving turn.  There was a good field of cars for this round and the racing was good throughout.  Due to the small size of the track and the different spec'ed cars lapped traffic at various stages can become an issue.
