The Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series continues its chase towards a prize pool valued at more than $500,000 with its penultimate round at Road America on Sunday at 3PM ET. As always, the action can be seen live on www.iracing.com/live and across iRacing and Skip Barber Racing School channels.
About The Series: The Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series is designed to give sim racers an opportunity to earn their way into a fully funded real-world Skip Barber Formula Race Series seat. This six-round sim racing championship features the iRacing Formula iR-04 that most closely resembles the car used in the real-world series. Each week, a new set of 20 drivers qualifies into the series through a three-day Time Attack session, before receiving coaching from Skip Barber Racing School instructors throughout the week. The top three points finishers across the season receive race seats, with the champion running a full season, second place running half the season, and third place running a single event. The combined value of all prizes, including SBRS credits to all qualifying drivers and other randomly awarded scholarships, exceeds $500,000.
Last Race: eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series veteran Matt Bussa took round one at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca after qualifying on pole and leading from flag to flag. Bussa held off immense pressure from three-time winner Mikkel Gade and Elvis Rankin to take that victory, but the duo proved to be too much in the second race, with Gade scoring his fourth win of the season as Rankin and Watkins Glen 1 winner Nicolas Mateo completed the podium.
Track Facts: Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America circuit is just over four miles and 14 turns of paradise for road racers of all types. Home to beloved elements like the Carousel, Kettle Bottoms, and Canada Corner, as well as multiple uphill and downhill straightaways, the track remains unchanged in its configuration since its opening in 1955. Road America has long played host to the top open-wheel and sports car series in North America, and even joined the NASCAR Cup Series calendar in 2021.
Next Race: Following Road America, the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series will head to Sebring International Raceway on Sunday, April 24 at 3PM ET. The legendary Florida circuit will host the season finale, where the grand prize winners will be crowned after two more epic battles on one of the roughest circuits they’ll face all season.
