Keegan Leahy Scores First eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series Win of 2021 at Homestead

Two years ago, Keegan Leahy was part of one of the most exciting finishes in eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series history at Homestead-Miami Speedway, although he ended up crossing the finish line second. On Tuesday night, the 23XI driver wasn’t involved in quite the same photo finish opportunity, but he had to be happier about the end result.

Leahy wrapped up a dominant performance in the caution-free Homestead race by taking his first checkered flag of 2021, all but guaranteeing that he’ll be a part of this year’s 10-driver playoffs in the fall once again. The polesitter made the final decisive pass on Kligerman Sport’s Bob Bryant, one of a number of drivers attempting to finish the race on a one-stop strategy, on Lap 97 and never looked back. In the end, he led 105 of the race’s 134 laps.

XSET’s Ryan Luza, a two-time Homestead winner, was second, while Letarte Esports’ Chris Shearburn backed up his season-ending victory at this track last year with a third place run. Wood Brothers Racing driver Garrett Lowe came home fourth, while Team Dillon Esports teammates Taylor Hurst and Corey Vincent were fifth and sixth. Bryant eventually settled for eighth place after leading 23 laps.

Other notable finishers included defending series champion Nick Ottinger, who clinched his first eNASCAR title here last year, rebounding from a last-lap accident at Daytona International Speedway two weeks ago to finish seventh. Daytona winner Michael Conti of JR Motorsports charged through the field from 29th on the grid to score his second straight top-10 result. Mitchell deJong, Leahy’s 23XI teammate and the Daytona polesitter, was the top-finishing rookie in 11th.

With the race going caution-free, more than 30 of the race’s 40 starters finished on the lead lap. Some of the drivers who didn’t finish every lap were affected by a third-party internet service provider issue, similar to unforeseen real-world mechanical problems, but most would return to the track to complete the race.
